Allons-y!

And we're off! After a ridiculously short flight from Greenville to Charlotte, we are chillaxin' at CLT. I was pretty stoked to find a Chili's here, because everyone knows that airport Chili's are the best. I was able to consume my last caffeinated drink for two weeks (I don't like coke and as far as I know they don't have Dr. Pepper in France), sad face.

Goodbye, sweet nectar of my life. I'll be forced to replace you with glass after glass of wine- c'est la vie.

Since this is an overnight flight, I've got my ambien ready to go, and I'm going to try and sleep the whole time. And since I won't be getting up to walk around on the flight, I've got my super sexy compression socks on to prevent blood clots. I know that clots are probably pretty rare, but unlike Katniss Everdeen, the odds are generally not in my favor.

Most people only dream of looking this good in compression socks.

Next post will be in Paris, yippee!!!

Conversations in the car

I have to share some Maddie hilariousness that happened in the car tonight. I have to admit, sometimes I am driven crazy by the NON-STOP chatter in the car, mainly because it's usually all about Lion King. But sometimes it can be pretty entertaining, as it was tonight, when Maddie was discussing the names of her future children.

She will have two girls, one baby and one big kid. The big kid's name will be Crackly Tree, nicknamed Cowie, and the baby's name will be Shiny. And I will be their grandmother and I can take care of them while Maddie goes to meetings. When I asked her what her job will be, she said cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner.

After that conversation, I figured I should probably make sure to write it down. And this was after a pretty funny dinner when she kept confusing the word "spicy" with the word "tasty." Which, come to think of it, may explain why she likes to tell me that she doesn't like tasty food, lol! Three year olds are pretty darn funny.

Testing, testing, 123...

Well, it looks like I get an F for blogging effort. But I'm back! Kind of. I'm testing out a blogging app in preparation for the big upcoming European adventure. My intention is to try and blog the entire trip, day by day, while we are there. Mainly because I have a terrible memory and I want to be able to remember everything about this trip!

For those of you that don't know, my parents and I are embarking on an overseas trip to visit Sarah, who has been in Spain since September. She is teaching English in a tiny little town and begged my parents to bring me over with them for her spring break, because she misses me SO MUCH. Right Sarah??? Either that or they needed someone that speaks French.....one of the two. Regardless, as a lifelong Francophile, I am ridiculously excited about visiting my motherland (and seeing Sarah and Spain too).

We will be arriving in Paris, where we will eat our weight in cheese, bread and chocolate for 4 days. On day 5, we will travel to Dijon, stopping in Épernay to tour a champagne cave (and taste the champagne, obviously!). After a night in Dijon, we will make out way down the "Route des Grands Cru," which is filled with wineries in the Burgundy region. We will stop for a late lunch in Lyon before driving on to Provence for 3 days. We'll be staying in a charming (hopefully!) bed and breakfast in St. Rémy, and we will also visit Avignon and Les Beaux over Easter weekend.

And then the Spanish portion of our journey begins! From Provence we'll cross the border into Spain and head down to Roses and Cadaqués. We will spend one night there, then drive down the beautiful Costa Brava, stopping for one night in Tossa de Mar. And finally, we will end this epic trip with a couple of days in Barcelona.

So! Hopefully this app works, because I might cry if I've typed all this and it doesn't post. I'm going to end with a couple of pictures so that I can test out that aspect of the app!
